April 24, 2018 Update

Hello Blues Fans!!!!

We are officially 45 days out from the 6th Annual Flagstaff Blues and Brews Festival and VIP tickets are going fast as are all the other tickets.   We started out with 5,000 GA tickets and now we’re left with 1200, and only 55 VIP tickets are available.  Dang, this is going to be a great festival!  I am so excited to hear all these great bands.

So, it’s time to remind everyone that next week the southern part of the state will start hitting those high 90s, and here in Flagstaff we’ll be experiencing the 70s, and when June comes around and people are dealing with 100+, we’ll be spending the day in 80 degree weather!  Get those tickets and for sure get those hotel rooms.  Our deals are filling up and the hotels will only hold those prices until May 15th.  After that – everything goes to full price.

This week I wanted to talk a bit about our vendors.  We have some great vendors coming on board and they really do add a lot to the festival.   I love shopping at our vendor booths!   They always have things I never knew I needed!   We have everything from natural pain relief, jerky, dog treats, jewelry, tie dye and this year the Blues Cruise will be at our event.  We have many more, but you get the idea, it’s going to be fun.

We’re going to have some great fun at this year’s festival.  Our kid’s area will be staffed with some great folks and there will be arts and crafts, a musical petting zoo, all sorts of fun stuff.  GREAT food vendors to make sure you gain a few pounds, and of course cold beer, wine and margaritas!  As I sit here writing this newsletter, I’m smiling at how far we’ve grown from that first festival 6 years ago!  The crowds have improved, the beer selection was expanded, the number of vendors has increased, the food vendors have an amazing selection and I’m just so proud of this event!

On a personal note – we received some great news this week.  I started this fight with 4 tumors and my tumor markers were at 5319.  Normal is below 35.  The doctor on Wednesday, was shocked that the markers had dropped to 457 after only 3 chemo treatments.  A 90% drop, and while I had set a goal at 50%, both the doctor and I are very happy.  Like I said the day I was diagnosed – I don’t have time for this.  Jen has done an amazing job running the business and juggling multiple events and I couldn’t be prouder of her, however, now that things are going in the right direction, I’m hoping to do more than write a newsletter and make some FB posts.  Even though we have amazing interns, I think Jen will be happy when I can start doing more. (I will be happy when I can shout from the rooftops that my mom is cancer free, I love you so much mom)
