Hi Blues Fans!
How is it October 1st? Weren’t we just having a great time at the Festival this year? This summer has flown by! I can’t complain, I think Fall is the best season Flagstaff has. This past month I got to see Buddy Guy and Kingfish at Celebrity Theater, big thank you to Rod for the tickets. Were any of you there? What did you think? Have you seen any other artists that you can’t wait to see again?
I’ll be honest September has been focused on my other festival, the Flagstaff Oktoberfest which is this coming Saturday! We will celebrate 14 years of putting that festival on, man does time fly! If you’d like to come on up, enjoy the leaves changing, some cooler weather and great beer – then grab some tickets HERE.
What is next for the festival? Well I’m working with our venue on renewing our contract, as well as trying to address the issues with the dust/dirt. Trying to sign some sponsors – keep your fingers crossed! I’m also starting to book the lineup – this is still the hardest part of the job. Trying to narrow down all the incredible musicians to just 10 spots AND making all of you happy. It’s certainly isn’t for the faint of heart.
I did get an update from our charity that they have had over $60,000 in requests for musical instruments, and have so far funded over $25,000 with about $8,000 left to give out. Thank you to everyone who bought a beer, glass or bottle of wine or a cocktail because part of those sales went to fund these instruments! In 2024 we really need to step up our drinking game so we can give them even more money. I’ve heard from some teachers that they have been using instruments that are over 20 years old, so thank you for helping update these!
Did you know next year we will celebrate 10 years?! 10 years of this festival, just wow! I can’t thank all of you enough, it’s only possible because of you. Without you there wouldn’t be a festival. With all of that said, how should we celebrate 10 years? What should be do? What do you want to see? Eat? Drink? Buy? Tell me everything and we’ll see what we can do!
Okay folks, as you can imagine I’m a tad busy with this next festival, but rest assured I am still working on Blues and Brews.
