Hi Blues fans!
June was a busy month for me as I put on a private family event here in Flagstaff, a quick one day conference in Phoenix and of course the Downtown Blues Event!
I’m hoping that most of you were able to attend the downtown blues event at the Orpheum theater on June 12. If you could not attend I’m sorry you missed a very fun party. I surprised myself when I was able to throw this together in such a short amount of time and have the support from my sponsors and the bands for this event. It was a fun afternoon and evening, and I think the bands had probably as much fun as you all did. I want to thank our bands for some great performances, I also want to thank our Sponsors – this would not have been possible without your generosity.
So now comes the planning of the festival for 2022! It does take a year to plan this event, so I am diving in deep right now. Looking at suggestions for changes that everyone made from 2019, figuring out what bands should play, getting sponsorship packages ready, and developing some new marketing partnerships.
I’m also excited to announce that I have hired a former intern to come work for me and help me put on these events. Mackenzie is an incredible person and she knows events like the back of her hand and I trust her with everything. I am so excited to have her on board and to be a part of my team full-time.
I also heard from folks about the downtown Blues event that I should do that again. So, I was thinking maybe we do that in the winter months because it’s an indoor venue? Something small again as far as bands but maybe we can have the full capacity of the theater and get together more than just once a year for some great blues music. What does everyone think?
