Hello Blues fans!!!
Jen here for the first installment of our 2019 Newsletter.
As we kick off the new year, there is so much to be thankful for and to look forward to. For blues music fans, and especially those that love our festival, the fact that it’s moving to two days, so more to love and enjoy, is a pretty amazing accomplishment. And to boot, we’ve got a killer line up you will not want to miss.
2018 was a pretty epic year for the festival and its success and all that we’ve been planning for 2019. However, with epicness, like regular life, there comes the tough parts. The tough parts that are quite honestly hard to even talk about. But here we are. It’s with an immense amount of sadness that I have to put this in writing, but Deb, my mother, my partner, my rock, the mastermind and visionary behind this festival, lost her hard fought battle with cancer on December 20th.
She was deeply loved by the Flagstaff community and the blues community and beyond. Her mark on this world was incredible. Her legacy, far reaching and with massive impact, is evident by the outpouring of love from so many whose lives she touched and which she changed for the better. She changed my life for the better. But her vision, energy and love will live on through this festival, so much so, you will all feel it when you’re there.
So we should all look at 2019 and embrace the excitement, the joy and the laughter that Debbi emanated every day of her life. Infuse it into your experience when you attend this years festival. Let’s live and laugh and hug and dance and sing for Debbi, who wouldn’t want it any other way. And tell your friends to come along and experience this with you. Because she lived for music and she lived for this festival, and this was her biggest dream, and now it’s up to us to make sure it’s an epic success. Are you with me, or are you with me?
In about a month, we’ll announce the line up and it will not be a disappointment. So start making your travel plans, because you will not want to miss this. Let’s make 2019 the best it could possibly be. But we need you there to make it happen. Let’s do it for Debbi. Because you know she’ll be up there dancing and singing along with every single one of you. Let’s make dreams come true. Yours, hers, ours.
