Happy Fall Blues Lovers!
Fall has officially begun in Flagstaff, and as usual it’s beautiful! I feel like the leaves all receive a memo on September 21st that it’s time to start changing, because it has begun as if on cue. Fall is also time for the Flagstaff Oktoberfest! Head on up the mountain on Saturday October 6th to see the leaves in the morning and then come on down, stop by Wheeler Park, have a German Beer, enter a contest and enjoy fall in the mountains.
This month and next will be spent negotiating artist contracts. We have the list of those we want to play, now it’s a matter of getting all of us on the same page for the event. And like every year, I AM SO EXCITED!!!! Why yes, I am a bit of a drama queen – you can all feel for Jen now.
I’m stoked and if they all fall into place, well in 4 months on February 1st, you’re going to be just as stoked as I am!
I want to thank all of you who replied with artist ideas! A few were on my list, a few out of the price range, and few that I’d never heard of, but sure did enjoy listening to the new artists! You have no idea how neat it is to have your feedback on things. It’s helped make the festival successful and given us some amazing ideas.
We’re also heading out to search for sponsors! The Flagstaff Blues and Brews is growing quickly, but it’s also a great way to put your business in front of over 5,000 people, most of which are from the valley! So, I’ll be heading down to Phoenix to talk to a few companies and why they need to play with us.
Cancer update: New chemo and a trial drug. Happy to be part of the drug trial and it’s going well. I’m finally getting into a new life rhythm, figuring out how to live with all of this. I have energy and I’m able to work at Peak Events, I lost 40 lbs (diet not recommended, but dropping to a size 6, I’ll take good news wherever I can) and I’m making future plans. I got this. After putting the music plan for the next 3 years together, there’s not a chance in hell I’m going to let cancer win!
Thank you again for all your support!
